Samples Training Projects

While an increasing number of Saudi students are pursuing advanced studies abroad as well as in the Kingdom, they face a challenging transition. Often, the skills necessary for leading a successful research career are not taught as a part of the general curriculum in our traditional university settings. As a result, many of the students find they are ill-equipped for this transition and struggle in the process. To address some of these challenges, this program was designed to build and develop basic research capacity among young researchers, to help them join the world’s best universities and pursue their higher education without difficulty. It is a two-year program targeting researchers recruited and hired at the joint centers of excellence. The young researcher will benefits from the advanced training program in a number of ways, including: introduction to research methods, contribution to the identification of promising fields and subjects for graduate studies, scientific publishing as a result of this involvement with research projects conducted by the centers of excellence, development of English language skills, enhancement of presentation skills, and the opportunity to connect to field colleagues in the following prominent universities: Stanford University, MIT, Harvard, Oxford University, UCLA, UCSD, Purdue University and Imperial College

This program provides an alternative for KACST researchers and scientists to join a summer training program. By taking part in this initiative they would be involved with current research projects conducted at the program’s joint centers of excellence. This training program will be jointly managed by KACST’s scientific council and the joint centers of excellence. Some of the advantages the trainees are expected to gain through this program include: training through participation with selected current research projects conducted by the joint centers of excellence, an enhanced understanding of joint research facilities and environments, an increased opportunity to connect and collaborate in future research projects, the opportunity to sign up for related workshops and seminars held at establishments that are similar to the joint centers of excellence

. This initiative was launched to create a training program for senior college students to develop their critical thinking research skills.
